Emergencies and dangerous situations can happen at any time, and you have to be ready – you have to do whatever it takes to keep yourself safe. You can call out or use your iPhone – check out the SOS feature to see how!
iPhone’s SOS Feature
The SOS feature on the ever-so-popular phone is fantastic for situations in which you must act smart and quickly. It’s a free feature, pre-installed, and allows you to call the authorities, an emergency contact, and even enter your medical information. You can even take action without unlocking the phone or fumbling around with the buttons.
How to Use the Feature
It’s extremely easy to use the SOS feature on the iPhone. It’s pre-installed onto the phone, so you don’t have to add it, and it only takes two steps to activate it and let it help you. For those with newer models, the two steps are as follows:
- Hold the phone’s side button on the right and the volume button on the left together, and the SOS menu will pop up. It only shows two options – sharing medical information or sending a distress call.
- Drag the emergency slider and your phone will immediately contact local authorities. A neat little feature to keep in mind is that if you keep holding the buttons without choosing any of the options, your phone will count down to an alert sound, after which it will call the authorities on its own.
For those with an older version of the phone, the steps differ, so keep these in mind when you want to send out an alert that you may be in danger.
- Press the side or the top button quickly, five times. This will activate the menu with the option to contact authorities or show your medical information.
- Drag the slider across the SOS options so your phone can contact the local authorities.
Adding Emergency Contacts
Add some emergency contacts to the SOS feature of your iPhone and make sure to keep them up-to-date. Your phone will alert those people when you’re in danger. Here are the easy steps to add as many contacts as you need to:
- Find the Settings section on the phone.
- Find the Emergency SOS option and open it up.
- To edit, press Edit Emergency Contacts in Health.
- Press Edit at the top right corners and add your contacts.
Adding Medical Information
This option is just as easy as adding emergency contacts and it’s from the Medical ID section on your phone. Here is the following information you can add:
- Medical Conditions
- Medical Notes
- Allergies and Reactions
- Medications
- Blood Type
- Organ Donor
- Height and Weight
It’s important to always keep yourself safe, and if you have an iPhone, you can utilize it to help you when you’re in a sticky situation. Enter all your information and perfect calling the authorities through the excellent SOS feature!
